finally, something i was REALLY happy with.

I was really really happy with these cupcakes. The past few times I've made stuff, I've been really disappointed, but these were great. I made a Vanilla Butter Cake, which my family fell in love with--an older cake that I had made. And used pink cream cheese icing, with white nonperils on top (my mom's idea). So cute, and they taste great <3

Chocolate Cupcakes with Classic White Icing

so with my new cookbook that my mom gave me last night, i made these cupcakes! i must say they're not my absolute favorite, but they came out pretty. I mad a simple Chocolate Cake Recipe, which turned out awesome. The batter was one of the best I think I've made, and it was yummy <3
I had a little trouble trying to figure out how long to cook them, because I know that for a regular cake recipe, it calls for you to bake it about 40 minutes, and for cupcakes, you need to reduce it by about 1/3 to 1/2 the time. I ended up cooking them for 31 minutes and they turned out pretty well! And well, as for the icing... not my favorite. It was a Classic White Frosting Recipe out of my new Better Homes and Gardens Book, and it made a very rich, white frosting. Very sugary, and dries nicely for the designs you might like to pipe on the top of the cupcakes. Buut as for taste it's not my favorite. I'm a huge fan of my Cream Cheese Icing, and until I find something that tops that, I think I'll stick with the cream cheese <3

catching up

So this is me catching up. I have quite a few pictures on my computer of some cupcakes/cakes that I've done, and I've been wanting to post them somewhere, so here are a few of the things I've done in the past couple of months.

I know these are a little older, but only by about a month. These were Amanda's cupcakes for her birthday. Chocolate cupcakes with alternating chocolate and cream cheese icing. The presentation wowed everyone in my family, and it was a pretty big success for her 22nd birthday <3

This was my first attempt at fondant. Not insanely bad, everyone really loved it. It was awhile ago so I barely remember. But if I do recall, it was a vanilla cake with orange in between the layers? I remember it was really great. When everyone started to cut it, they weren't big fans of the fondant, but it looked super cute when I finished it.

Hi! So I finally decided to do this.
I've always seen people with blogs with recipes and pictures
of experiments and whatnot, and I finally did it :)

My mom just gave me a Christmas present a week early
[yay happy times!]
and it's this super awesome cookbook!
So tomorrow I'm going to be making some cupcakes,
I'm not 100% positive what I'm making yet,
but I'll post tomorrow with pictures and everything <3
